The Division of Pediatric Cardiology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center and Children’s Nebraska in Omaha, Nebraska is seeking a board eligible or certified Pediatric Cardiologist with advanced training in echocardiography and cardiac MRI to join our non-invasive imaging team. Training in interpretation of cardiac CT angiography is preferred, but not required and we are committed to providing on-the-job education to gain this skill, if needed.

The identified cardiologist would join a team of 15 noninvasive imaging cardiologists, including three cardiologists that protocol, oversee and interpret cardiac MRI and CTAs. Approximately 450 axial imaging studies are performed per year with 60% CTA and 40% MRI on 1.5 T Philips Ingenia Ambition MRI machines, including an MR/OR suite and a Siemens Force CT. Children’s Nebraska boasts of an independent advanced 3D visualization lab that performs cardiac MRI/CT post-processing and 3D printing and virtual reality that is completely integrated into the health system. The echocardiography lab has celebrated over 20 years of IAC credentialed status and interprets 13,000 echocardiograms per year via a growing team of 14 sonographers, up-to-date multi-vendor fleet, a new echo lab space and recently installed echo PACs with 3D and myocardial strain imaging. Our group performs 450 fetal echocardiograms in a recently expanded fetal care center.

Our division provides the gamut of pediatric cardiology services, with 22 faculty and growing, including specialists in interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, heart failure and transplant, exercise physiology, and adult congenital heart disease including inpatient and outpatient consultative services as well as the education of categorical pediatric cardiology fellows, pediatric residents, and medical students from both the University of Nebraska Medical Center and Creighton University School of Medicine. We have 9 outreach locations, additional physicians who live and work in surrounding communities and an extensive referral network covering a 4-5 state region, interpreting echocardiograms for 15 region hospitals. Outpatient clinics are primarily at the children’s hospital in Omaha but includes outreach service. We have 3 congenital cardiothoracic surgeons, congenital cardiac anesthesia dedicated to our team for every procedure, and two state-of-the-art catheterization labs. One is primarily used for Cath/EP cases, with biplane fluoroscopy and the other is a hybrid OR/Cath lab with the installation of a Siemens Pheno system - the first in the world in a congenital cardiac application. We have a longstanding relationship with the ACHD program at the university.  We have cardiac intensivists who provide 24/7 in house care in our newly built, door to door variable acuity cardiac care unit. We are a free-standing children’s hospital, where the new cardiac care unit is just one part of a 500-million-dollar expansion. This doubled our pediatric inpatient capacity and created numerous specialized care units. Our adult congenital service is separate from the pediatric service and is fully staffed 24/7 with specialized ACHD physicians at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.

Omaha offers a delightful mix of the amenities, diversity and culture experience of a large city with the traffic, cost of living and friendliness of a smaller midwestern community.
