Gifford Farm seeks a passionate and knowledgeable Nature Program Educator to lead our immersive nature-based learning experiences. In this role, you’ll guide students through our forest trails, helping them explore, observe, and connect with the natural environment. This program is designed to engage young minds through sensory exploration, physical activity, and hands-on learning about the forest ecosystem, fostering a deep appreciation for nature in an urban setting.
High School graduate or equivalent
The position of a Gifford Farm Team Leader requires a person who enjoys working with children and working outside a great deal of the time. The position requires a person with a friendly nature and good customer service skills and good management skills.
A team leader will be an active member of the Gifford Farm Education Program Team which he/she leads, or intends to lead, with a working knowledge of presenting the program within the guidelines of the curriculum and standard operating guides set in place by Gifford Farm Education Center.
Regular and dependable in-person attendance is required and is considered a condition of employment.
Essential Responsibilities:
Follow the direction of the Executive Director of Programs Services/Gifford Farm Coordinator and Program Team Leaders in all matters related to Gifford Farm and Gifford Farm programs.
Scheduling staff to facilitate Gifford Farm Educational programs.
Training staff to facilitate programs based on approved Gifford Farm curriculum set in place through the direction of, and in cooperation with the Director of Gifford Farm Education Center.
Training staff to facilitate programs based on approved Gifford Standard Operating Guides set in place through the direction of and, in cooperation with the Director of Gifford Farm Education Center.
Review and revise curriculum and Standard Operating Guides annually. Submit new ideas and changes to the Director for approval. Distribute changes to program staff.
Maintain an inventory of supplies and materials needed for the program. Submit purchase request forms to the Director for purchase of new supplies.
Maintain budget for program supplies.
Observe staff within each program annually (at min) and submit an employee evaluation to the Director by required date.
Team Leaders shall always interact with students, teachers and all visitors/participants in a friendly and positive manner.
Interact with and encourage program staff in a positive manner to help maintain the quality of the program as well and the quality of the mission of Gifford Farm and ESU #3.
Interact with and cooperate with administrative staff and other team leaders in a positive manner to help maintain the quality of the mission of Gifford Farm and ESU #3.
Maintain Team Leader office, desk shelves and files in an orderly fashion.
Team Leaders will perform other functions as assigned by the Coordinator of Gifford Farm Education Center.
Understand and comply with the ESU #3 Board of Education Personnel Policies and Employee Handbook.
Other duties as assigned. Example: general maintenance /cleaning and upkeep of the property. Employee may also help with animal chores that might consist of being in close proximity to farm animals.
At Will Employment: Employment with ESU #3 is not for any period of time, and employment may be terminated at any time at the convenience of the terminating party, with or without cause, and with or without notice. Employment with ESU #3 is not governed by any express or implied contract of employment containing terms different from or inconsistent with those stated in this job description.
