Minimum Qualifications:
- Medical degree (MD/DO) from an accredited school of medicine
- Post-graduate training in an accredited residency program
- Board certified or board-eligible in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
- Minimum five (5) years of experience providing direct patient care
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in a medical leadership role
- License to practice in the state of Nebraska
- Current DEA licensure
- Current CPR or ACLS certification (ACLS preferred)
Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
Administration Responsibilities (.5 FTE)
- Demonstrates and utilizes the highest standards of medical ethics at all times, including strict HIPAA compliance
- Performs oversight of clinical services provided to all patients by staff of the health center
- Develops, modifies, and implements medical policies and procedures in compliance with current accepted professional standards
- Interprets, maintains, and evaluates performance standards of medical practice and develops medical protocol as necessary
- Ensures that all requirements of the electronic medical record are met
- Reviews credentialing and privileging of clinical providers
- Conducts provider staff meetings on a regular basis
- Assists with the provision of continuing education for health center staff
- Participates in recruitment and retention activities for medical staff
- Provides medical consultation to clinicians regarding the clinical management of specific patients
- Advises management and recommendations to Executive and Health Services Operations Teams
- Ensures that professional persons and facilities used for patient referrals meet the applicable standards of care
- Participates, when necessary, in the development of contractual relationships with other health care delivery systems
- Reviews and resolves patient complaints and quality of care issues directly
- Assists in the achievement of productivity standards
- Works directly with Compliance Team in the quality assessment and quality assurance program in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations
Clinical Practice Responsibilities (.5 FTE)
- Provides comprehensive, high quality medical care to patients, regardless of age, sex, gender identification, income, national origin, or language
- Obtains pertinent patient history and performs a physical exam, as indicated
- Recognizes and addresses deviations from normal exams
- Performs, orders, and interprets both screening and diagnostic testing; addresses abnormal findings; and adheres to follow up protocols
- Develops plan, which may include treatment, medical or other referrals, and/or prescribing of medications
- Refers to a specialist in a timely and appropriate manner
- Provides patient instruction regarding plan of care, preventive education, and health promotion and maintenance
- Documents appropriate findings and plan within electronic health record in a timely and precise manner and ensures documentation meets medical-legal standards
- Considers individuals’ cultural, psychological, social and environmental factors in creating treatment plans
- Interprets scientific studies based on knowledge of basic research principals
- Stays current on clinical care developments and maintains CME requirements for required licensure and certification
- Meets quality assurance requirements, including the appropriate dispensing of medications
- Maintains patient confidentiality and meets compliance requirements, including HIPAA
- Possesses basic comprehension and skills of clinic computer technology, including electronic health records
- Communicates clinical and professional issues and questions to the Chief Medical Officer
- Follows protocol and training requirements
- Follows all policies and procedures
- Serves as a preceptor for advanced practice clinicians providing care in the Lincoln health center
- Provides call coverage
Immunization Requirements:
- Hepatitis B vaccination records
- Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR) vaccination records or proof of immunization
- Tuberculosis PPD Skin Test that is no older than 12 months
